Exp Games Sith Empire RP: Trial Gamemaster Application

In-Game Name:
Akita 'Talon' Cain

Steam ID64:

Age:
18

Timezone:
AEDT

Why do you want to be a Trial Gamemaster?
Bringing life and story to the server as well as being able to create fun events and activities for everyone on the server. Would also be a great way to bond with others and have a creative outlet which also benefits the server. I'll be able to come up with interesting events from even the smallest idea or conversation and turn it into something big, interesting and engaging. Everyone would be involved and if regiments came to me with lore ideas for their regiment (solo or CO-OP), I'd be able to make it come true and I'd be able to help with personal lore like dying, developing a minor or serious injury or trauma to be used in roleplay. Also it would be fun to help CO's find ways to keep their troopers engaged with the events and create scenes and scenarios that spark a good or bad reaction. (Eg. The CO goes missing and they're happy to finally find them or the CO gets seriously injured and its a race with time to keep them alive and get them off the battle field).

Do you have any prior experience as a Gamemaster or Event Master on other servers?
No I do not. But I would be able to learn fast and bring interesting ideas to the table and provide an engaging event to the server through story, lore, or even just a throw away event that was made up on the spot. I'd also be able to write detailed event ideas and planning maps for other GM's for when they need an event to run but don't have the time to create one themselves. I'll happily write event after event and provide them to other GM's and spend my time just creating them, unique and engaging so that there is never a moment where the event is sporadic, out of control or boring.

What skills or qualities do you possess that make you a good fit for this position?
I personally love to run off a plan or schedule and like things to run off of them but if they go off course, I'm still able to be patient and slowly guide them back on course but if they choose to take it into their own hands, I can always just remove them from the event or have them punished for disobeying their CO/staff. (This is ONLY if they completely overthrow the event and start doing their own thing).

How would you handle a player complaining openly about your event in game?
I'd either take the complaint as is and develop it into my next events or I'd write down their complaint with the user and find the time to pull them aside and ask them if they could explain to me in more detail what made them dislike my event. If they are unhappy with the planning or the pace of the event, I'll write it into my next ones to keep it continuing and more engaging but if they're upset over something more like RDM, I'd have them report it to staff instead. But if they're upset about something like what kind of event, I'd make sure to either scrap it or develop it into something more/different. Though if they don't want to talk to me, that is completely fine but they will be told that if they can't provide more feedback than what they have already given, the changes I make may be unsatisfactory for them.

What do you think are the most important qualities of a good gamemaster?
(Discuss what characteristics you think are essential for a successful gamemaster. This can include things like creativity, approachability, patience, ability to adapt, etc.)
Creativity to make interesting and engaging events, approachability so those who have negative feedback can tell them face to face either if pulled aside or face to face (or if they have an event idea they'd like to be put to consideration such as personal lore, regimental lore or a story) and so CO's/Officers can discuss operations with them and not feel like they're being annoying or a bother, patience to deal with misbehaving troopers or when plans go off course, listening and communication skills to communicate with other GM's, the ability to learn new skills and styles (eg. building props, events etc etc) and troopers and the ability to adapt to changes such as going from a Junior to a Senior GM or having an event idea set in place but then being given a different one as priority.

What is your playtime on the server?

Scenarios

Scenario 1: You are running an event and have to go, but you do not have a replacement. How would you handle this situation?

Depending on the time of the event, eg. Late into it: Create an emergency that correlates to the event (like an un-disarmed bomb that has been located underground or a deadly infection that has been unleashed) and call an emergency evacuation or discuss it with a mod/admin to help create a scenario where they take over such as a character intercepts with the communications and informs the GM that they have an emergency and have to go or the GM has a dangerous event happen (like a kidnapping) where someone who receives the distress signal takes over and it also opens up another event opportunity. Early into it: Either find a mod/admin to take over or cancel the event.

Scenario 2: An Event Character dies before they are supposed to, and are seen to have died by multiple players. What do you do?

Depending on the EC (eg. A unique character like a prisoner or a robotics scientist), I will either change the plan of the event to a pre-planned "Everythings gone wrong" plan and remove the EC from the event and either change them to a different character down the line or bring them into the event somehow like as a late trooper in their regiment or as an assistant OR if it's meant to be an escorting/protection mission and they fail to do that, I'll turn it into a punishment for failing to do their job. I'd never bring the unique EC back. Only un-unique EC's such as man controlled, mass produced model droids will come back with a different name. (Eg. Droid-0886 would come back as Droid-9772).
Or, depending on the rules, they'd be revived and nothing happened.

Scenario 3: You notice a Gamemaster abusing their perms. What would you do in this situation?

Report it to the Head Gamemaster with any clips or proof I can provide and provide my side of the story and give the username/name of the GM and any witnesses.

Scenario 4: You crash the server during an event, the event still has 15 minutes left before it ‘should’ be complete. What do you do?

Create an excuse/scenario like a communication loss or a sudden moment that made them black out, such as a bomb, a gas leak (on base excuse) and a small mind blank occurred where they were transported back to the ship in an emergency. I'd still continue depending on how much time I have (do some on base occurrence or just do de-briefing). With 15 minutes left, I'd make sure everyone's alive and okay and do a small debrief on what happened or create a scenario like medical RP on those who sustained serious injuries or have them get check ups (from a medical perspective, otherwise just find a scenario like a droid invasion).

Scenario 5: A player is dissing your event. They are not giving any sort of constructive criticism, instead solely attempting to pick a fight with the Event Team. How do you react?

Inform them that if they have no constructive criticism, then we are not interested as they are only trying to start a fight and are breaking the event feedback rules (that it must be constructive and must not be an attack). If they continue then attempt to walk away and if that fails, report them to a staff member (mod/admin) for breaking the rules and harassing the GM team. If they do it again or continue after staff involvement, then report it to management instead for them to deal with it in a more serious way.

Scenario 6: A player is attempting to involve themselves in a part of lore that requires Gamemaster approval, they do not have such approval but insist on continuing the RP. What do you do?

Inform them that the lore they are trying to continue or participate in requires Gamemaster approval and it has not been approved of. If they refuse to accept this, then inform them that trying to continue the lore without approval will result in staff involvement as they aren't listening and becoming an issue. If they still continue, inform staff and provide proof and story as to what happened and name any witnesses who were involved.

+1 | Pretty solid base application, GM's are one of the backbones of the player base, we need them to keep players intrigued, so if you can do that than I'm happy. I liked your ideas throughout the scenarios, if you can replicate these ideas into server events that would be perfect. Good luck with you're application!
